Septic Tank: Before and After

If your septic system has a tank that is leaking, there are two options -- if your tank is steel or plastic, it will probably need to be replaced. The steel ones tend to rust through after time, and plastic ones can break. If you have a concrete one, however, it can many times be patched and repaired. These pictures show the inside of a concrete tank that was pumped, cleaned, resealed and refitted with new pipe.

BEFORE: This is what the tank looked like inside after it was pumped - notice the corroded cast iron inlet pipe.

After placing a fan over the access hole at one end of the tank to blow in fresh air, entry was made through the hole at the other end and the inside of the tank was pressure washed to thoroughly clean it.

AFTER: This is what the tank looked like after it was cleaned, the walls resealed and a new inlet pipe installed.
